What is the best gift you have ever received or given?
When I was a child, it was a trampoline. Santa put it together right in my backyard and left a big red bow on it.  My most recent Christmas gift was Kyson...born just 1 week before.

Do you celebrate holidays differently when your loved one is deployed/gone or do you keep tradition?
We always follow the same routine. Christmas morning at my moms in Oklahoma & Christmas afternoon and the next few days with my husbands side of the family in Arkansas. This year, however, may be different. Bruce is deployed and I have to work on Christmas(they gave me off until noon, but I wont get off until 11pm). I'm still not sure where and when everything is going to happen. I guess I should try to figure this one out...

If you celebrate Christmas, do you put an angel, star or something else on the top of your tree?
I put a big bow on top with matching ribbon flowing down the tree. I love it! My mom always put an angel on our tree, and now she puts a start(western style). The bow & ribbon is something I've started on my own in our family.

What are your three favorite websites?
Facebook.
PhotoBucket
YouTube

On your man do you prefer… boxers, briefs or boxer briefs? Or commando? (yeah, I’m starting to get desperate for questions!)
Boxers or Boxer Breifs....mostly boxer breifs. :)

What do you see your life like in 10 years?
I hope that I am almost done with my education. I plan to have my NP or CRNA. I hope Bruce is exactly where he wants to be career wise with the Army. I'm sure we will be living wherever the Army needs us. It's not exactly easy to predict 10yrs in advance when your married to the Army. Oh, no...I just realized that Kade will be 15 1/2 yrs old...that means we will be teaching him how to drive and he will have a permit. Oh jeeze!

What do you like most about your job?
I love knowing that when I leave I have accomplished something every single day. It may only be that I was an ear that heard my patients worries, a shoulder to cry on, or the one that ran fast enough to catch them before they fell. I'm surprised how much I enjoy working as a nurse in a nursing home. One reason I chose nursing is because I love school/learning and I learn something new every single day that I am at work.

What are three things you do every day, no matter what day it is?
Just Three??
-Check My Facebook.
-Check To See If I Have Any New Followers.
-Hug My Babies.

What would you do with an extra five hours in your day today?
Sleep! I love to sleep! I'm a night owl, so I have to talk myself into going to bed early enough to get the sleep I know I want so dearly.

What is your favorite Christmas (or whichever holiday  you celebrate) cookie recipe (please share!)?
I wish I had the recipe for the soft gingerbread cookies my step-grandma makes. They are delicious...she puts a cream cheese frosting on them too. Yum!! I didn't come from a cookie family. Our Christmas cookies usually come from pre-made dough. =)

Poor Man's Plastic Surgery (Weekly Weigh-In)

I have officially spent more time in the gym this week than any other week of my life. I've gone 3 DAYS IN A ROW!! I know, I know....your thinking "Yeah, right, not Brittney." But if you could see the way that I am walking, you would believe me. Not only am I EXTREMELY sore...but I walk like I have a stick up my butt I lost a fight with an exercise ball.

I have been following my friend Reyna's plan @ Glamour Glory.

So far I have completed:
I have lost 4.8lbs from my starting weight of 170. That is a lot of water weight...but great encouragement.

So, your telling me that surfing the net doesn't count as exercise?

It's Transformation Time!

I've come to realize that if I want to loose weight and get in shape, then I'll have to do something about it! I've tried every excuse not to. The biggest one is "I don't have time with the boys. So...I'm going to find a babysitter for 1-2hrs a day so that I can finally hit the gym.

It finally hit me when I tried the Insanity Fit Test and about fell down trying to lift my knee to my chest and felt my fat ass places shake that never did before.

A friend of mine, Reyna @ Glamour Glory has become a big part of my inspiration.  She set a goal and busted her butt to get to where she is now. I have asked her for some help and she plans to post a beginners guide on her blog in the next couple of days.  She has given me permission to share some of her before and after photos....

I will have to hold my self accountable and I ask that you all do too! I will post my starting weight and follow up with you all once a week.  One of the hardest things for me is understanding that I wont see the results that I want overnight or even within a month at that matter. After some research, I have set a goal...

My Body Mass Index (BMI) is: 26.8

A BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 is considered healthy for adults. A BMI of 25 to 29.9 is considered overweight, while a BMI of 30 and above is considered obese. People with BMIs of 18.5 or less are considered underweight.

My Healthy Weight Range Is:

Between 118 and 159 pounds for your height of 5' 7"

Your healthy weight range is based on a healthy body mass index (BMI) of 18.5 to 24.9. The higher end of the range applies to people with more muscle mass and a larger bone structure.

My RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) is: 1866

Your body needs energy to function, and your resting metabolic rate (RMR) is the number of calories your body burns simply by living. Regular exercise increases your RMR and helps to keep your body healthy and feeling great!

My Daily Target Caloric Intake is: 1200

Weight goal you entered: Lose 2 pounds per week.
Based on your weight goal, try to keep your daily caloric intake to about 1200 calories and combine this with regular exercise and physical activity. Exercise is essential to losing weight. Once you reach your weight goal, you will need to recalculate your daily caloric intake.

Please Note: You should never allow your daily caloric intake to fall below 1,200 calories because you may not get enough nutrients. Also, excessive calorie restriction could slow your metabolism and hinder your weight goals.
In addition to a low-calorie diet, exercising for at least 30 minutes per day at your target heart rate is the most effective way of losing weight and keeping it off.

My Target Heart Rate Zones

While exercising or performing any sort of physical activity, you should count between 98 and 146 beats in 1 minute, and it should not exceed 195 per minute.

My Personal Heart Rate Zones

  • 0 - 98 bpm*  Warm up
  • 117 - 137 bpm   Weight Management & Endurance Building
  • 137 - 156 bpm   Weight Loss & Improving Cardio Fitness
  • 156 - 390 bpm   Anaerobic. Don't stay here too long.
  • *bpm = beats per minute

My Personal Summary

  • Gender: Female
  • Height: 5' 7"
  • Age: 25
  • Current Weight: 170
  • Weight Goal: Lose 2 pounds per week
  • BMI: 26.8
  • Healthy Body Weight Range: 118 and 159
  • Target Heart Rate: 98 to 146
  • Target Caloric Intake to Meet Weight Goal: 1200
Soooooo. I want to weigh 145lbs That is only 25lbs. That would put me at my goal weight in 12.5 weeks.

Procrastilaxing

...The process in which you procrastinate for so much time that you actually take the time to relax and fully enjoy the matter of doing absolutely nothing at all.

WARNING! THIS IS A VERY LONG POST. (due to my "procrastilaxing")

I havent blogged in over a week. To be honest, I was completely speecless after I attended the funeral/protest. I was furious and heart broken. I tried and thought very hard about how I was going to blog/share my experience....and I am still speechless. It's hard to use words on something that hit so deep.

I drove there alone. As I arrived at the church, I wasn't sure where the picketers where, so I followed the hundreds of American flags that I were flying through the mobs of supporters. I could hear the engines revving on the other side of the crowd. The Patriot Guard Riders were there to drown out the WBC.  I made my way to the front to see them, and the first thing that caught my mind was a very young child holding a sign that read "Pray For More Dead Soldiers". I was sick. I stood in the crowd...crying, supporting Sgt. McCluskey....yelling "USA, USA, USA" Someone was playing the National Anthem from their car speakers and everyone sang along. There was no possible way the family could hear them.  They left about 15 minutes before the service started...on two slashed tires. Not one tire business in town would sell them tires! After they left, the huge crowd stood outside the church with flags and supportive signs...we listened to the service over large speakers they had placed outside for us. I'll never forget the looks I saw on peoples faces as they walked out of that church, or the tears that flowed as they put his casket into the hearse.

Around 200 motorcycles lead SGT. McCluskey to his final resting place at Tannehill cemetery.

I am so proud to be an American and an Army Wife!!!!!

I said I was going to write a "Thankful Thursday" post every Thursday in November, so I had better catch up....

In regards to Thursday 11/11/10 Veterans Day...I am thankful to be an American, and Army Wife, and live in a country where our colors don't run!!

And for last Thursday, 11/18/2010..

I am thankful for my best friends...they never judge, they accept me and I LOVE THEM!

Lonni, I met in Nursing school...we do not go a day without seeing each other or at least talking on the phone  multiple times per day.

Amy, always a phone call away. I met her in Germany...and I LOVE this girl! She's always honest and would do anything for me no matter where our husbands are stationed. p.s. Check out her Blog The Daily Fiasco

*I absolutely love this picture of Amy, so I had to share!*

Whew! It feels so much better to be caught up...

Till Next Time,
