MilSpouse Friday Fill-In

What do you see your life like in 10 years?
I hope that I am almost done with my education. I plan to have my NP or CRNA. I hope Bruce is exactly where he wants to be career wise with the Army. I'm sure we will be living wherever the Army needs us. It's not exactly easy to predict 10yrs in advance when your married to the Army. Oh, no...I just realized that Kade will be 15 1/2 yrs old...that means we will be teaching him how to drive and he will have a permit. Oh jeeze!

What do you like most about your job?
I love knowing that when I leave I have accomplished something every single day. It may only be that I was an ear that heard my patients worries, a shoulder to cry on, or the one that ran fast enough to catch them before they fell. I'm surprised how much I enjoy working as a nurse in a nursing home. One reason I chose nursing is because I love school/learning and I learn something new every single day that I am at work.

What are three things you do every day, no matter what day it is?
Just Three??
-Check My Facebook.
-Check To See If I Have Any New Followers.
-Hug My Babies.

What would you do with an extra five hours in your day today?
Sleep! I love to sleep! I'm a night owl, so I have to talk myself into going to bed early enough to get the sleep I know I want so dearly.

What is your favorite Christmas (or whichever holiday  you celebrate) cookie recipe (please share!)?
I wish I had the recipe for the soft gingerbread cookies my step-grandma makes. They are delicious...she puts a cream cheese frosting on them too. Yum!! I didn't come from a cookie family. Our Christmas cookies usually come from pre-made dough. =)

During the Military Funeral Protest I met a girl on Facebook and we met up at the protest/funeral.  She is an Army Wife with a pending deployment. She is also currently going through nursing school. Very cool girl. Show her your love and support as a brand new MilSpouse Blogger.

1)If you were given $1,000 right now, how would you spend it?
The smart thing would be to put it into savings. But the question asks how I would spend it. I would buy the PSP that Kade wants for Christmas. I would go on a baby shopping spree at BabyGap for Kyson. I would buy a couple months worth of tanning for myself because I am WHITE as all get out! I would hire a personal trainer. Then I would buy myself a gift certificate for the Buckle so I can buy a new pair of jeans when I loose all the weight I want to!! Oh, and I would buy Bruce something too...but its hard to shop for someone overseas.

2)If you had to choose a movie title (a real one that already exists) for your life story, what would it be?
Oh jeeze, this is a hard one. I never have time to watch movies anymore. If I could choose how my life would be based on a movie I would say The Notebook or Ever After. I love old timey sappy love stories.

3) If you were a teacher, what subject would you like to teach?
Science!! I love science! (one of the reasons I'm a nurse!

4)Has being a MilSpouse changed how you view holidays or how your holidays are celebrated? If so, how? If not, what hasn’t changed?
I came from a traditional family Christmas. No presents before Christmas morning! Now with the military and being married, we end up having multiple Christmas'. We have our Christmas, the the "traditional" Christmas with my family, the two more in Arkansas with Bruce's family/Grandparents. (this is if we are back home for the holidays)

5)What is your favorite Christmas (or whatever holiday you celebrate) memory?
I love Christmas mornings. Because my family allowed presents ONLY on Christmas morning, the children are always so excited. I love seeing the looks of kids faces when they open their gifts from Santa. My youngest brother was still little when I had Kade, so I've always been able to enjoy the excitement of kids on Christmas morning. Therefore, EVERY Christmas morning is my favorite memory!!

30 Days of Truth (Day 10)

Day 10: Someone you need to let go, or wish you didn’t know.

I wish I didn't know the bad sides of myself. The three biggest things about myself that I want to let go is my controlling ways, my lack of motivation, and my lack of patience.

I used to be a perfectionist "planner". Sometimes I still am. I was the girl who knew the due dates of her children before they were conceived.  I'm trying to let things happen one day at a time. But I also feel like my urgency to not be controlling has become the cause of my other two downfalls...

No motivation. Mainly with my desire to loose weight and get into shape. I tend to get that motivation when I'm laying in bed at night. I'll tell myself, "Okay, tomorrow is the day! I am going to wake up, eat a healthy breakfast and start exercising." and the next night...I'm doing the same thing.

My lack of patience...I have NONE very little! I remember being very very young and my Grandma telling me that I need to patience. I don't think I quite understood what exactly patience was. As an adult, I now know what it is and I still have trouble embracing it.  I even tattooed Patience on the back of my neck as a reminder. Maybe I should have had it tattooed on my forehead.

The Versatile Blogger Award

I had such a busy weekend at work. For those of you that so not know, I work 32 hours on the weekend at a nursing home...(and get paid for 40hrs!). This allows me to be at home with my two boys Mon-Fri to home school Kade and experience all of Kyson's milestones. This weekend was a little different. I stayed the night at work, which means I SLEPT IN A NURSING HOME! This is something I never thought I would have to do...at least until  was at least 100 years old. Ha-Ha. Needless to say, I was exhausted when my weekend ended.  But what better way to start the new week, than with a Blog Award!?! A big THANK YOU to Rachel @ Flying High: Life of an Air Force Wife who has awarded me with The Versatile Blogger Award. Rachel is a a military spouse and SAHM of a toddler.  Be sure to visit her blog!

Here are the rules:
1. Thank and link back to who gave you the award.
 2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Pass it along to 7 blogs you've recently discovered and enjoy
4. Leave your recipients a note, telling them about the award.

1- I am someone who stresses way way way to much. I tend to love control, so when I start to realize I'm loosing that control over things I get anxious. I like to tell myself I'm am just a good leader!

2- I recently dyed my hair red! Now, granted I am a natural strawberry blonde, I have not seen that color since I was in high school. I love being a blonde...and I thought the more blonde, the better. Until this whole "red hair" idea popped into my head. So one night I decided I would just go for it and dye my own hair...and leave big blonde chunks. AND WHY I DID MY OWN HAIR YOU ASK?!?...I have no idea. Especially with the fact that my mother-in-law does hair as well as one of my very good friends.  Needless to say, my once very blonde hair turned orange. So I had to have it "fixed". Now I have multiple shades of red (light to bright). I'm not sure if its "me" yet, or not.

3- I love to work. If I wasn't a mother, I would live at work as a nurse. I am still very surprised at how satisfied I am with the career I chose.

4- I think that I sub-consciously like moving so much. Every time we move/PCS, I get to buy new thinsgt o match the new home.

5- I HATE judgmental people. I never really understand why it is anyone else's business what someone else does/says...as long as you aren't harming yourself or anyone else...I believe we should do what ever floats our boats.

6- I met my Dad when I was 23. We talk all the time now. Now I realize that I wasn't the "different" sibling....I just take after my Dad. And now I understand my where my passion for music comes from.

7- I am absolutely in love with my husband and two sons. I am very proud of myself and my outcome thus far. I like to believe that I make wise decisions in life....yet I am always wondering how I could do things better. I think that all falls back into my "control" issue.

Because I recently got back into blogging, I have discovered a ton of great blogs. So this is not exactly easy, but...

Let's get a little political!

I will be completely honest, I hate watching the news, therefore I would have been able to give my two cents on the health care reform. After reading everyones gripe on facebook lastnight and thismorning, I decided to do a little research for myself to see what all the jazz was about.

I now absolutely think that this bill being passed is an awesome thing. Some people are freaking out, thinking that they will be refused healthcare, which is the exact opposite purpose. Some fear that they will have to wait to to see a doctor or sit in an ER waiting room for hours. Hello!!! We've been doing that for years.

I have more than a handfull of friends that refuse to seek healthcare because of the cost. My own family has been told that they could buy insurance...with a catch. They won't cover any underlying health issues. That kinda defeats the purpose of having insurance...especially if you will end up paying out of pocket anyway.

"Every American will be covered under the toughest patient protections in history. Arbitrary premium hikes, insurance cancellations, and discrimination against pre-existing conditions will now be gone forever.

And we'll finally start reducing the cost of care -- creating millions of jobs, preventing families and businesses from plunging into bankruptcy, and removing over a trillion dollars of debt from the backs of our children.

But the victory that matters most tonight goes beyond the laws and far past the numbers.

It is the peace of mind enjoyed by every American, no longer one injury or illness away from catastrophe.

It is the workers and entrepreneurs who are now freed to pursue their slice of the American dream without fear of losing coverage or facing a crippling bill.

And it is the immeasurable joy of families in every part of this great nation, living happier, healthier lives together because they can finally receive the vital care they need."

THIS IS CHANGE! A damn good change, so stop your bitching and do some research. And while your at it, ask yourself this: If the president wasn't a black man, would you still feel the same way?

Skinny Bitch

After having two babies, I'm not liking the new me very much! Sure I lost the baby weight quickly with both of them, but they blessed me with some new and much hated fat. Therefore, I am going to do an hcg diet plan through a local bariatric doctor. After hearing from others about how well it works and doing a little research, I'm gunna do it!

I'll have to give myself injections for 40 days...which sucks. But As long as I loose the .5-3lbs/day, I'm sure I can handle a little old needle. Hcg (the hormone that is detected when your pregnant) is know to burn adipose fat tissue rather than lean muscle. Some of the side effect are the same as pregnancy symptoms such as feeling nauseated...and mood swings. I must admit that I'm not looking forward to the mood swings. Some are afraid it will turn me into a bitch. My response? I might be a bitch, but I'll be a skinny bitch!!

Studies show that people who use the hcg for weight loss, maintain the weight loss easily afterwards. The reason being is that it resests your hypothalamus which is what controls your metabolism.

Over the next few weeks I will be updating everyone on the effects and results of the 'hcg Diet Plan'

I won't start it til Thursday...so maybe between now and then I'll work up the nerve to post a 'before' picture.

Real Nurse

I am so excited about starting my new job on Monday as a home health
and hospice nurse! I finally get to be a real nurse and work under my
license. It's a big responsibility...but I'm more than ready. I was
lucky enough to graduate from a great nursing program...and I'm
confident that I've learned what I need to be an excelent nurse!

''You can't change what you don't acknowledge.''

I can't say that what I've gone through in the past month won't or
hasn't changed my life. It by far, absolutely has. I have had the
chance to take a step back to review the 7 years, 5 of which was a
marriage, that I spend with the person that I loved. I am learning
that I should have acknowledged the things that I wanted to change at
the time. However, I did look at every event as just another bump in
the road. I wasn't going to let something that could be forgotten
change my hopes, goals, and dreams. Unfortunetly those things have
changed. I can no longer dwell on what makes everyone else happy. I'm
beginning to realize that if I want myself to be happy, I may have to
let some people down. I can hope that they don't hold my decisions
against me, because if they truley care about ME, they won't.
I now have to make decisions based off of what is best for myself and
most importantly, my two sons.
I have left my husband, for reasons that no longer matter. I live
close to family and old friends who are here for me...and let me tell
you, it's a wonderful feeling.
If you know me, then you know that I tend to plan out
everything...down to my childrens due dates, even before conception.
When all of your plans change...it straight up SUCKS! Knowing now that
I could have acknowledged certain things that would soon change my
'plans'...makes me realize that I need to take each day as it comes
and not waste so much time stressing and being a worry body. I am
become 'me' now...slowly but surely. Not exactly planning everything
out, but continuing to work towards my goals and what I want, one day
at a time...is just one thing that makes ME happy. Seeing my small
children grow and change and enjoying the careless childhood that I
miss myself is just one more reason to smile.
I didn't really make any new years resolutions...and never really
have. So, I've been thinking...how about some new life resolutions:
1-Smile everyday. 2-Dont worry about what everyone else thinks. 3-Stop
dwelling in the past. 4-Do everything in the world to keep my kids
happy and healthy. 5-Keep MYSELF hapy and healthy!
So here is to a new me, a new day, a new week, a new month, a new
year, and new life.

(p.s. I am posting from my iPhone...so hopefully this works!)

Why do all good things come to an end?

Honestly, what will become of me?

I don't like reality
It's way too clear to me

But really life is dandy
We are what we don't see
We miss everything daydreaming

Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end?

Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end?

Come to an end, come to an
Why do all good things come to an end?
Come to an end, come to an
Why do all good things come to an end?

Traveling I always stop at exits
Wondering if I'll stay
Young and restless
Living this way I stress less

I want to pull away when the dream dies
The pain sets it and I don't cry
I only feel gravity and I wonder why

Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end?

Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end?

Come to an end, come to an
Why do all good things come to an end?
Come to an end, come to an
Why do all good things come to an end?

Dogs were whistling a new tune
Barking at the new moon
Hoping it would come soon
So that they could die

Dogs were whistling a new tune
Barking at the new moon
Hoping it would come soon
So that they could die

Die, die, die

Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end?

Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end?

Come to an end, come to an end
Why do all good things come to an end?
Come to an end, come to an end
Why do all good things come to an end?

Well the dogs were barking at the new moon
Whistling a new tune
Hoping it will come soon

And the sun was wondering if it should
Stay away for a day ?til the feeling went away
And the sky was falling
And the clouds were dropping
And the rain forgot how to bring salvation

The dogs were tune barking at the new moon
Whistling a new tune
Hoping it would come soon
So that they could die
