I'm hoping to be able to blog more now. I have a bunch of updates...so I'll try to slowly add them.
Until then, enjoy our last family picture before Bruce headed back to Iraq.

Lost:

2.5 Inches off my waist and a pant size! I am now 11lbs down! Not exactly as much or as fast as I would like. But I have definetely NOT followed the diet very well. And on days that I know I will be eating bad, I skipped the injection that day. But today I have reached my first weight loss goal!! I am FINALLY weighing in less than I was when I got pregnant with Kade 5 years ago! I still have a while to go with this diet. So Im hoping for 10-15 more lbs...I'm loving this!

Under Attack!!

I'm curious...why do they call these annoying little things June Bugs? It's only April!!! They won't get away from my doors. Earlier, one snuck in and I stepped on it. CRUNCH! They grab on to anything they touch. I reached into a bag at my moms house the other day and one decided it would take a ride on the tip of my finger. I'm about to declare war!!

Lucky Number 7

I started the phentermine pills last Thursday...and I must say that I like them quite a bit. I only experienced insomnia once, the first day. That was only because I took it so late in the day. No headaches (whew!) and no irritabilty (I think). I've had a couple bad days and was not exactly in the best of moods, so I'm pretty sure I would have reacted the same, pill or no pill. I take the phentermine in the morning and within an hour I feel full of energy...about the same as I feel after drinking a big Red Bull (and I love me some Red Bull!!) But it lasts all day. I'm not jittery at all, which is good. The only thing that I don't like about the phentermine is that is causes BAD dry mouth! I have absolutely no saliva so I'm constantly thirsty. That only last for a few hours each day though. Oh!...and my appetitte has vanished. I actually have to remind myself to eat, which is the whole point of taking it along with the hcg injections. I have to follow a low calorie diet with it.

I could tell after about 4-5 days that my pants were just a tad bit looser. But I didn't wanna weigh myself until today when I went back to the doctor to pick up my injections. Sure enough...I lost 7lbs and about 2% body fat in only 7 days!! Talk about motivation!

But let's get to these hcg injections. I freaked out for a second before I gave myself the first one. I decided to just do it after my 16yr old brother threatened to do it for me(scary!). They can be given anywhere...stomach, arm, leg...doesn't matter. So I picked a spot on my leg...stuck it in real quick (with a scream, because I scared myself), then pushed the hcg in. Let me tell you...they didn't lie when they said it wouldn't hurt. But they failed the mention how bad it burns!! It stung for about 5 minutes after. But all in all it wasn't bad at all. I just can't believe I actually stuck a needle in my own leg!

I now have to weigh daily...which I'm actually excited about. I can't wait to see the numbers drop...and the inches. I measured my hips, stomach, arms, thighs, and calves. I wouldn't dare share the measurements...but I'll share what's gone soon.

Dear Jeans

Dear Jeans,

You have been my favorite pair of jeans over the last year. We've been through alot. I would wear you everyday if I could but the others might get jealous.

You fit perfectly when I found you. Then I got pregnant. You held up for 6 months of pregnancy...then I had that horrid affair with maternity and sweat pants. You waited quietly in the back of my closet until I could finally but barely fit back into you. Your so loyal!

You finally fit perfectly again. But I'm sad to inform you that I will be leaving you again very soon. You see, you look really good...but Im giving up what holds you up. Fat. I'm loosing it and you too. I'll wear you as long as I can...and when I can't, I'll buy your super hot twin in a smaller size. Sorry.

I'm what?!?!

Nurse: Take off your shoes and socks...this scale will tell us your body fat percentage.

Me: Oh jeeze, this is gunna be scary.

Nurse: How tall are you?

Me:5'7"

Nurse: Your body fat percentage is 39.6%.

Me: Whoa! I'm like 11% away from being 1/2 fat!

And that's the beginning of my weight loss journey. The doc came in and explained the pills I will be taking. He suggested taking 1/2 of the pill for 3 days until I adjust to the irritability, insomnia, and headaches. I decided to take 1/2 this afternoon at 4:15 just to see how I feel...Well it's 11:00pm and I'm nowhere near tired. Uh-oh. But no headaches or irritability....so far.

The injections are ordered, so I'll start them on Wednesday. I've heard mixed opinions on how the injections feel. It's a tiny needle, but some say it still hurts. The doc says the least painfull injection site is around the bellybutton. Surely I can give myself the injections. I'm a nurse...I give shots all the time, but never to myself. If I decide I can't give them to myself, I work with 7 other nurses that probably wouldn't mind doing it. I forgot to mention, 4 of those nurses are also doing this hcg plan too. On the weekends I can have my mom do it. She has given livestock injections, so surely she can do me too right? Lol.

Let's get a little political!

I will be completely honest, I hate watching the news, therefore I would have been able to give my two cents on the health care reform. After reading everyones gripe on facebook lastnight and thismorning, I decided to do a little research for myself to see what all the jazz was about.

I now absolutely think that this bill being passed is an awesome thing. Some people are freaking out, thinking that they will be refused healthcare, which is the exact opposite purpose. Some fear that they will have to wait to to see a doctor or sit in an ER waiting room for hours. Hello!!! We've been doing that for years.

I have more than a handfull of friends that refuse to seek healthcare because of the cost. My own family has been told that they could buy insurance...with a catch. They won't cover any underlying health issues. That kinda defeats the purpose of having insurance...especially if you will end up paying out of pocket anyway.

"Every American will be covered under the toughest patient protections in history. Arbitrary premium hikes, insurance cancellations, and discrimination against pre-existing conditions will now be gone forever.

And we'll finally start reducing the cost of care -- creating millions of jobs, preventing families and businesses from plunging into bankruptcy, and removing over a trillion dollars of debt from the backs of our children.

But the victory that matters most tonight goes beyond the laws and far past the numbers.

It is the peace of mind enjoyed by every American, no longer one injury or illness away from catastrophe.

It is the workers and entrepreneurs who are now freed to pursue their slice of the American dream without fear of losing coverage or facing a crippling bill.

And it is the immeasurable joy of families in every part of this great nation, living happier, healthier lives together because they can finally receive the vital care they need."

THIS IS CHANGE! A damn good change, so stop your bitching and do some research. And while your at it, ask yourself this: If the president wasn't a black man, would you still feel the same way?
